DOUMA HERITAGE SOCIETY
REBRANDING
2022
Douma Heritage Society is an NGO located in the village of Douma, Lebanon, which is currently struggling with a growing lack of interest, funding, and members. This project presents an exciting rebranding challenge that combines design with a purpose to serve the community. Through the rebranding I have designed, I aim to promote historic preservation and transform the foundation into a cultural space for community interaction and education.
The logo design draws inspiration from the arched windows of the village's traditional homes, with their colored overlapping glass. These windows are known for their intricate and colorful glass panes that overlap and create beautiful patterns when viewed from the outside. To capture this aesthetic in the logo, the design incorporates overlapping colored shapes, creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. The use of overlapping shapes also symbolizes the layers of history and culture that make up the heritage of the village.
WEBSITE DESIGN
I designed an interactive website for the Heritage Foundation that features an interactive map for virtual exploration of the homes in Douma, along with a database that includes archives, stories and recordings found in these homes. The website design also draws inspiration from the arched windows found in the village's traditional homes, using overlapping colored shapes to create a sense of depth and dimensionality. By making Douma's unique heritage more accessible and interactive, the Heritage Preservation Foundation aims to attract more visitors to the village.
